Angular 5 was released | Changes from Angular 4

Hi everyone,
I hope you’re excited to know that Angular 5 is out
Just a quick note from my side: Angular 5 was released a few days ago. And although that sounds extremely big and important, it isn’t.
Even though being called a “major release” (due to their updating strategy), Angular 5 doesn’t introduce any breaking changes or major new features – your old projects will just continue to work. The biggest new feature – the HttpClient – already was added to this course months ago.
Why is it called “major release” then?

Because it changes and optimizes a lot of things behind the scenes and leads to faster and smaller Angular apps => That’s a major enhancement. Additionally, the new HttpClient now is out of beta (but didn’t change since I added it to this course).
Still, feel free to read through the announcement to find out what was added and changed: https://blog.angular.io/version-5-0-0-of-angular-now-available-37e414935ced
If you update the Angular CLI (see below), you’ll automatically get Angular 5 projects when running ng new PROJECT.
The CLI can be updated by uninstalling the old version (npm uninstall -g @angular/cli) and then installing the new one (npm install -g @angular/cli).
But as mentioned: These new projects work just as the “old” Angular 4 projects did.
